How Taylor Swift Scored With Her Style Every Time She Attended Boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Games
Football is back—are you ready for it?
Now that August sipped away like a bottle of wine, the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are kicking off NFL season by facing off at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri on Sept. 5. And as fans watch it begin again, they’ll be keeping an eye out for Taylor Swift.
Close your eyes and the flashbacks start, she was standing there—on a balcony (or rather in a luxury suite with Donna Kelce) in the September 2023 air to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce at her first Chiefs game. While the sighting fueled already existing romance rumors about the Grammy winner and the tight end, she later confirmed that this wasn’t actually the beginning of their love story.
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Taylor recalled to TIME in her December Person of the Year profile, referencing how Travis revealed on a July 2023 episode of his New Heights podcast that he wanted to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it at her Eras Tour show but things didn't go according to his game plan. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple.”
That first game turned into 12 more—with lucky No. 13 being the Chiefs' 2024 Super Bowl victory. And considering this marked back-to-back Vince Lombardi trophies for the team, you could say they developed a winning reputation.
Travis and Taylor's relationship grew beyond the field—with them going on star-studded date nights, vacationing together and him supporting her at her Eras Tour concerts. And while dating in the public eye can come with challenges, they simply try to shake them off.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Taylor told the magazine. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
But make no mistake: While the “Blank Space” singer loves the player, she also loves the game.
“She’s really interested in football,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes told NBC’s Chris Simms in August. “She asks a lot of great questions. She’s already drawn up plays. We might have to put one in.”
Although, these plays aren’t necessarily for the whole team.
"She’s a little biased and just creates plays for me," Travis noted on a Sept. 3 episode of The Rich Eisen Show. "So, we’ll see if they can make Coach [Andy] Reid’s office.”
As they continue to be each other's biggest cheerleaders—with his reps calling an alleged breakup media plan that recently spread online "entirely false and fabricated"—keep reading to look back at Taylor's game day style last season.
While supporting Travis Kelce as the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24, her first-ever NFL game at Arrowhead Stadium, Taylor Swift sported DÔEN's white Lois Tank and Ksubi's distressed denim shorts, which she paired with a Chiefs windbreaker and matching New Balance sneakers.
For the Chiefs' Oct. 1 game against the New York Jets, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Taylor wore Area's denim shorts, which quickly sold out. The singer completed the look with Christian Louboutin boots and Gant's relaxed leather shirt.
And Taylor couldn't forget her signature red lip for the star-studded game.
For the Chiefs' Oct. 12 game, where she spent time with Travis' dad Ed Kelce, Taylor wore a Chiefs jacket from WEAR, a line by Erin Andrews (who Travis has credited for connecting him with Taylor).
Taylor, who also spent time with quarterback Patrick Mahomes' wife Brittany Mahomes at the game, sported a Balenciaga corset top underneath the Chiefs jacket.
Taylor had an extra special accessory on her wrist for the Chiefs' Oct. 22 game: An Erimish bracelet with Travis' jersey number on it.
...we can't calm down.
Taylor sported a long red fleece jacket over a black high neck top, paired with her signature red lip.
The singer was all smiles as she watched the game with Brittany Mahomes.
For her ninth Chiefs game, Taylor sported a cream varsity jacket bearing the team's logo and a patch that read "Tay-Tay."
During a freezing Kansas City Chiefs-Miami Dolphins Game in Kansas City, Mo., Taylor cheers on her boyfriend and his team while wearing a custom-made puffer coat made to look like a Kelce Chiefs jersey, designed by Kristin Juszczyk, wife of San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk.
