Police in Southern California are asking the public for help after a pedestrian was fatally struck by three vehicles in a triple hit-and-run late last week, officials said.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported the collisions took place Friday about 11:45 p.m. and said none of the drivers who hit the pedestrian stopped to help.

The identity of the victim was being withheld Wednesday morning pending identification and notification of next of kin, police announced in a news release. The pedestrian was identified as a man in his late 20’s or early 30’s.

Pedestrian run over by three vehicles

A preliminary investigation by the agency found a light-colored pickup truck was traveling northbound on southbound lanes of San Fernando Road near the Hansen Hills neighborhood in Los Angeles, when it hit a pedestrian crossing mid-block.

The pedestrian fell to the ground on northbound lanes and attempted to get up when he got hit by a second vehicle that was traveling north, police reported. Police described the second vehicle as a light-colored full-size SUV.

The force of the second collision threw the pedestrian onto southbound lanes where he was run over by a third vehicle traveling south San Fernando Road. Police described the third vehicle as a dark colored mid-size SUV.
