NBC journalist Kate Snow announced Sunday night that she will no longer anchor the Sunday edition of "Nightly News," as she has done for the better part of the last 9 years.

Instead, the veteran journalist will concentrate her efforts on NBC's streaming newscast, NBC News Daily, which airs during weekday afternoons.

Snow said she will continue to be part of the "Nightly News" staff, but with the growth of the streaming newscast, she needs to focus her efforts there.

"Our audience on NBC News Daily is growing fast," Snow said, as she wrapped the Sunday evening broadcast. "I have decided to focus my attention, Monday through Friday, on that role."

Snow can be seen on NBC News Daily from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday. The show is part of the NBC News Now streaming service. Sunday, Feb. 25, will be Snow's last day anchoring the Sunday "Nightly News."

Snow has contributed to "Nightly News" as a national correspondent for years, also reporting for the "Today" show and "Dateline NBC."

Snow has covered breaking news and politics throughout her career, with major stories that have included the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., to the mall attack in Kenya and the oil spill in the Gulf.

Snow, according to a professional bio, has done investigative reports on texting while driving and soccer concussions among young female soccer players that have sparked national conversations.
