More Red Lobsters have closed. Here's the status of every US location

It's been just over two months since Red Lobster filed for bankruptcy, and now at least seven additional locations in six states have been shuttered, based on a USA TODAY review of the seafood chain's website.

The good news, though, for cheddar bay biscuit fans: Hundreds of locations remain open across the country with plenty of shrimp to go around, too – probably just not so endless.

In May, company's website listed 99 restaurants in 28 states as "temporarily closed" when Red Lobster first announced its Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Those same stores are now "closed." Many have been removed from the site. Seven more Red Lobsters are now listed as closed, including two in Florida.

In total, all the closures represent just over 15% of the 641 restaurants that were operating as the year started. We've collected the addresses of every Red Lobster location and whether the website says the restaurants are open or closed.

What's striking about the map, above, is how Red Lobsters dot the country and are almost numerous enough to create the shapes of a few states. The seafood chain, founded in 1968, is the largest in the U.S. with more than 500 locations in 44 states, based on locations reported on their website.

While the company shuttered the most locations in Florida, the state is home to 40 restaurants that are still operating, including three in Orlando. Texas tops Florida with 44 locations – even though 11 have been recently closed.

According to Red Lobster, the company intends to use the bankruptcy proceedings to "drive operational improvements, simplify the business through a reduction in locations, and pursue a sale of substantially all of its assets."

A hearing is scheduled for Monday in Orlando to approve the sale of the chain to RL Purchaser LLC, according to Nation's Restaurant News. Fortress Investment Group controls the company along with SPB Hospitality, which operates Gordon Biersch, Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom, Logan's Roadhouse, Krystal, Stoney River and other restaurant brands.
