It's times like these for a deep dive into Dave Grohl's relationship with his wife Jordyn Blum.
The Foo Fighters frontman revealed he welcomed a baby girl outside of his marriage to the music video director.
"I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her," Grohl—who shares kids Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10, with Blum—wrote on a Sept. 10 Instagram post of his new daughter. "I love my wife and children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness."
The 55-year-old added, "We're grateful for your consideration toward all children involved, as we move forward together."
Grohl did not share any further details about the identity of his newborn's mother.
The Nirvana alum's baby news comes one month after his and Jordyn's 21st wedding anniversay. The couple got married in August 2003, six years after Grohl settled his divorce with his first wife Jennifer Youngblood.
So, who is Jordyn? Keep reading for everything you need to know.
Grohl has been married to Jordyn Blum since Aug. 2, 2003. She is his second wife, as the musician was previously married to photographer Jennifer Youngblood from 1994 to 1997.
Grohl and Blum met in 2001 at the Sunset Marquis Whiskey Bar, according to a Spin profile on the Foo Fighters. At the time, Blum was a producer for MTV.
The early days of their romance was admittedly rocky. As Grohl recounted in a 2007 interview with Elle, "When I first met my wife, we went out on a few dates and I decided that I wasn't ready for a serious relationship, so I just stopped calling."
However, the rocker said he had "a revelation" three months later and called Blum back.
"She picked up the phone," he remembered, "and said, 'Oh, I never thought I'd hear from you again.'"
The pair tied the knot on Aug. 2, 2003. Their wedding, held at their Los Angeles home, was attended by Grohl's former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic and music producer Clive Davis, according to People.
The couple share three daughters: Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10. Grohl recently revealed he fathered a fourth daughter outside of his marriage.
As a former producer for MTV, Blum utilized her keen eye to co-direct Foo Fighter's 2002 music video for "Walking the Line." In addition, she made a cameo in the music video for the band's 2011 single "White Limo."
Blum has served as the inspiration for many of Grohl's songs, including Foo Fighter's 2002 track "Burn Away."
"I was in love with my future wife and had some romantic f--king prom ballad," he quipped in a 2006 interview with A.V. Club. "We'd never play that f--king shit live."
The rock group's 2007 song "Statues"—centered around the idea of growing old together—is also about Jordyn, according to Grohl. As he told GQ in 2008, "To me there's nothing more beautiful than seeing the headstones of a husband and wife side by side in a graveyard."
